Why Italians Love to Talk About Food, A Journey through Italy's Regional Cuisines, from the Alps to Sicily (Farrar, Straus and Giroux $44), by Elena Kostioukovitch. Sure, it's not really a coffee table book, but I love to have a recipe or food book kicking around, particularly through the holidays. I thumb through it, dream of places I want to visit, and eventually get up off the couch and cook something. And this is not a recipe book, but a food book. Elena may work in Russian, but she lives in Italy and knows her food. This book is a delight.
